The Jordan 191 developed by Gary Anderson, in which Michael made his F1 debut in, at Spa Francorchamps for the Belgian Grand Prix of 1991. Having never driven here, Michael learned the track on his folding bike and then qualified in an impressive 7th place, four places ahead of his experienced teammate Andrea de Cesaris. Michael retired from the race due to technical issues but impressed the F1 paddock so much that Flavio Briatore wasted no time in getting him to Benetton.
